LIBERAL, KS- Time is starting to run out for the Midnight Sun Goldpanners.

The Goldpanners fell down early and managed just five hits, as they fell to the Liberal Beejays 8-4 Tuesday night in Liberal, KS.

Liberal jumped on the Goldpanners early, courtesy of six first inning hits, scoring five runs. Once Midnight Sun fell in that hole, there was no catching up.

The Goldpanners offense didn’t get on the board until the 5th inning. Joe Pratt and Mykal Stokes had back-to-back singles to lead off the inning, and were advanced by an Austin Wooldridge sacrifice bunt. After Dave Duetchman flew out, Trent Olezsczuk reached on an error, allowing both runners to score and cutting the lead to 5-2.

But right after Midnight Sun got on the board, the Beejays scored two more runs off of starter Jason Van Skike. Cam Christian came in for relief, pitching an effective 3.2 innings, allowing just one earned run and striking out five.

Midnight Sun got their final two runs of the game late when Eric Lane and Travis Anderson scored on a Josh Kalalau 2-RBI single.

The loss Tuesday night was the Goldpanners fifth in a row, as they look to rebound Wednesday night against the El Dorado Broncos. For full coverage, please check www.goldpanners.com.
