1957 at Ft. Polk, LA
Donald  Dennis,  Robert (Bob) Vaughn, and Darrell Fedde (left to right), along with Leonard Harmon,  went to Ft. Leonard Wood, MO in June 1957 for basic training. Then, after completing basic and a two week leave in Fowler during September, they went to Ft. Polk for 8 weeks of advanced basic training and 6 weeks of basic unit training.

Leonard Harmon (left, below) was the 4th Fowler member, and took the above picture of the three.

They joined the Army Reserves in April of their Senior year, to start the countdown for the 8 year commitment.

They had 6 months of active duty, June 30, 1957-December 18, 1957.

Don stayed in active reserves until discharged in 1965.  He went to summer camps first at Ft. Benjamin Harrison in Indiana (summer 58), then thereafter at Ft. Carson, CO.  Don, a Public Information Officer, Spec. 4, was being assigned to an ambulance unit out of Trinidad to go to Cuba (Soviet Missile Threat)  in 1962, but at the 11th hour didn't have to go.
