Barbara Bovee  SHS 1955

Barbara Ann (Bovee) Shinost

OVERTON, Nev. - Barbara Ann Shinost, 73, died Saturday, May 14, 2011, in Overton.

She was born Sept. 2, 1937, in Sturgis, S.D., to Sumner Eugene and Esther Agnes Fruth Bovee. She moved to Las Vegas with her family in 1965 where she has resided for the past 45 years, but her heart was always in South Dakota.

She worked as a hairdresser and later as a customer service representative at Woolworth's. She enjoyed gardening and crossword puzzles, but will be remembered for her love and service to her husband, children and grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by two sons, Jim of Chino Valley, Ariz., and Todd of N. Las Vegas; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Gene Bovee of Tucson, Ariz.; and a sister, Sharilee Anderson of Logandale.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James; and her daughter, Rhonda McCurry.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 24, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, S.D.

Joann Hope Holst, 72, Sturgis, died Saturday, February 14, 2009 at the Sturgis Regional Health Care Center.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2009 at the Kingdom Hall in Sturgis with Mr. Karl Carstensen officiating.
Joann was born February 2, 1937 at Rapid City, SD, to Edgar and Laura (Hale) Lovegren. She attended school in Meade County and graduated from Sturgis High School in 1955. She received her Registered Nursing Degree from St. John's School of Nursing in Rapid City in 1958.
Joann was a registered nurse, a ranchers wife, mother and homemaker.
She married Kenneth E. Holst at Union Center, SD on August 23, 1958.
Survivors include her husband Kenneth Holst, Sturgis; sons Ricky (Kathy) Holst, Loveland, CO; Randy Holst, Ninilchik, AK; daughter, Ronda Halvorson, Sturgis; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; sister, Jean Linn, Elm Springs.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
